Legal Dispute Arises Over Iconic Song Recreation in Upcoming Comedy Film
Ongoing Legal Battle Over Song Rights
The production team behind David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan's forthcoming comedy, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with Vashu Bhagnani, the producer of Biwi No 1, concerning the unauthorized recreation of its classic songs. During a press conference on Friday, Bhagnani voiced his dissatisfaction and raised concerns regarding the situation. However, at the trailer launch earlier today, producer Ramesh Taurani asserted that the issues had been "resolved." Shortly after, Bhagnani released a video clarifying that the legal matter is still active and that he has not been approached for a resolution.
Vashu Bhagnani Responds to Ramesh Taurani's Statements
In his video message, Bhagnani claimed that the songs from his significant film, Biwi No 1, had been allegedly "taken without permission." He emphasized during his press conference that he had not authorized the use of its visuals, making it clear that no one had the right to utilize them. He warned that the ongoing court case means any use or distribution of the content could lead to contempt of court charges. Despite the legal proceedings, he expressed frustration over the trailer launch, where it was publicly stated that the issue had been resolved. Bhagnani noted that he had not received any communication regarding the matter, whether through personal contact or official channels like calls or messages. He expressed his bewilderment and irritation, stating, "The case is still in court, yet they are making false claims and releasing content openly."
Controversy Surrounding Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai
For those unfamiliar, the recreated version of Chunnari Chunnari in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has faced legal challenges after Bhagnani raised objections. The court issued a suo motu notice amid the ongoing dispute, which reportedly postponed the trailer launch of the Varun Dhawan film. The trailer was finally unveiled at an event in Mumbai today. During the media session, Taurani addressed inquiries regarding the legal notice, stating, "There is no issue here. Everything has been sorted out." This has provoked a strong response from Bhagnani, who has been vocal about his displeasure towards the Dhawan family. He recently revealed that he had initially intended to remake Biwi No 1 with David Dhawan, with his son Rohit Dhawan working on the script. However, due to delays, they decided to abandon the project, and Bhagnani alleged that David's new film incorporated songs from the original, leaving him disheartened.
