Kunal Kemmu Opens Up About Career Challenges and Upcoming Projects
Navigating Career Lulls and Industry Pressures
Kunal Kemmu has been busy with various projects lately, including his role as the host of the reality series "The Alliance." In a recent interview, he discussed a tough phase in his career where he experienced a significant break, spending nearly a year without any work. During this challenging time, he received suggestions from colleagues to boost his social media presence by sending gifts, attending events, and mingling more to create new opportunities.
In his chat with a media outlet, Kemmu shared his perspective on such advice, saying, “That’s the thing about advice. If it works for you, it’s good, and if it doesn’t, it’s bad.” He recognized that while the recommendations were not necessarily bad, they didn’t align with his personal approach. He stressed the importance of having a public relations strategy but expressed doubt about the need for extensive socializing to secure work.
Reflecting on his time away from acting, Kemmu spoke about the anxiety that often accompanies unemployment, a common issue for many actors. He remarked, “Now I’m busier, but there have been times in my life where I was working continuously for two years without getting a day off. And then, a film didn’t work, and I was home for six to eight months or even a year.” He acknowledged the industry's unpredictability, which can impact both seasoned actors and newcomers.
Kemmu also touched on the ongoing struggle actors face between choosing quality projects and taking roles just to maintain their careers. He noted that many in the industry wrestle with this dilemma, especially during lean times when work is limited. This often creates a conflict between their artistic goals and the need for financial stability.
Recently, Kunal Kemmu directed "Madgaon Express" and is set to star in "Golmaal 5," alongside prominent actors like Ajay Devgn and Arshad Warsi. Furthermore, he will direct "Vibe," which marks Preity Zinta's return to the film scene. The film will also feature Kemmu, along with Sparsh Shrivastava, Vanshika Dhir, Dinesh Lal Yadav, and Yashpal Sharma, highlighting his diverse talents in the entertainment industry.
