Kriti Sanon Addresses Cocktail 2 Comparisons

The film Cocktail 2, featuring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, is not a direct sequel to the original 2012 movie. Despite this, Kriti's portrayal of Ally has drawn comparisons to Deepika Padukone's beloved character Veronica since the first look was revealed. Following the film's release, both critics and fans have continued to highlight these similarities. In a recent interview, Kriti shared her thoughts on the matter, expressing that while she anticipated the comparisons, she found them to be somewhat irrelevant, emphasizing that Ally is a distinct character.

Kriti Sanon on the Veronica Comparison

During her conversation with Filmfare, Kriti was asked which character from the original Cocktail she would have preferred to portray. She expressed a desire to play Veronica, citing the character's complexity and emotional depth. Kriti noted that Veronica had a rich narrative arc and multiple layers, making it a more challenging role for its time. When discussing the comparisons, she acknowledged that they were expected due to the sequel's connection to the original film, admitting that both characters share a certain free-spirited and rebellious energy.

However, Kriti clarified, "Ally and Veronica are fundamentally different, and I appreciate that distinction. It wouldn't make sense for me to replicate a character that Deepika has already embodied." She believes this uniqueness is what keeps Cocktail 2 fresh and engaging. Kriti emphasized that the film presents a new narrative with its own set of conflicts and characters, asserting that Ally possesses her own identity, despite any perceived similarities with Veronica.
