Kiara Advani believes that postpartum depression is a topic that requires more open discussion. The actress, who recently became a mother to her first child with Sidharth Malhotra, shared her experiences of motherhood during a recent podcast. She expressed that her identity has transformed significantly since becoming a mother, and she now views herself through a different lens. Kiara, known for her role in Toxic, reflected on how her actions will shape her daughter's life and the kind of example she wishes to set. She emphasized that every woman experiences this transition uniquely, and its effects can vary greatly.


Kiara's Emotional Journey Through Postpartum

During her conversation on Raj Shamani's podcast, Kiara remarked, "Everything about you changes as a person. I feel like I am a completely different individual now compared to before I became a mom." She noted that her sense of purpose has deepened, as she aims to set a positive example for her daughter. Kiara also discussed her struggles with a skin condition and its emotional toll, recalling how a message from Raj about his sister's similar experience brought her to tears.



Kiara's Six-Month Journey of Self-Discovery

Kiara stressed the importance of discussing postpartum depression more openly, as it can affect women in various emotional and physical ways. "It's a significant identity shift, and during this time, it can be challenging for women to be kind to themselves. It took me six months to navigate through this," she shared, visibly emotional. She emphasized the need to nurture her relationship with herself, establish boundaries, and avoid self-criticism.



When asked how she plans to guide her daughter in her interactions with men, Kiara expressed her desire for her daughter to live freely, make her own choices regarding love and marriage, and learn from her experiences without constraints. She also shared her surprise at how relaxed Sidharth is as a father, recalling his response to the question, "What would you do if Saraayah had a boyfriend?" He indicated that he would encourage their daughter to make her own decisions about right and wrong.
