Charges Filed in Karnataka Against Six Individuals

In Bengaluru, Karnataka, authorities have filed a chargesheet against six individuals accused of sending vulgar and threatening messages to Vijayalaxmi, the spouse of imprisoned Kannada actor Darshan. The police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to locate other suspects who are currently evading arrest.

The chargesheet was submitted within the mandated 60-day period following the case's registration at the Cyber Crime Police Station. Among those apprehended are a software engineer and a petrol station manager, both of whom are fans of another Kannada star, Kichcha Sudeep.

Vijayalaxmi had previously lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police, detailing abusive comments made against her by various social media accounts. She provided evidence against 15 Instagram profiles and over 150 offensive remarks.

Additionally, she approached the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s office, presenting screenshots of the hateful comments and requesting prompt action from the authorities.

Vijayalaxmi expressed her frustration over the perceived inaction by the police regarding her complaints about the abusive social media posts. However, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh refuted her claims, asserting that the investigation was actively progressing.

In a social media post, she stated, "My complaint has been completely neglected. I believe that the law is the same for everyone, but this experience has made me question that belief. This has come as a surprise to me."

She further noted, "Action was initiated within a day in another woman’s complaint. When I lodged a complaint, there has been no action, and I have been neglected."

In a related incident, Kannada actress and former Congress MP Ramya, also known as Divya Spandana, had filed a complaint against Darshan’s fans for issuing rape threats after she supported the family of a victim in a fan murder case. The police acted quickly in that situation, resulting in arrests.

Vijayalaxmi reiterated her concerns on social media, stating, "I have always believed that the system and the law are the same for everyone in our country. But, honestly, this experience has made me question that belief. Even after follow-up by my lawyers, there has been no action. Today, I had to personally go and remind them that I am still waiting for my complaint, even to be looked into."
