The Tamil film Kara has seen a drastic drop in box office earnings, with a nearly 65% decline on its first Monday. After a strong opening weekend, the film's total gross now stands at Rs. 29.50 crore. Concerns are rising about its future performance, with projections suggesting it may finish below Rs. 40 crore. With notable performances from Dhanush and Mamitha Baiju, the film's fate hangs in the balance as it heads into its second weekend.

Kara Faces Major Box Office Decline

The Tamil film Kara has encountered a significant downturn in its box office earnings, experiencing a dramatic drop of nearly 65% on its first Monday compared to Sunday. After an encouraging extended opening weekend that raked in Rs. 27.50 crore, the film, starring Dhanush and Mamitha Baiju, could only manage to earn Rs. 2 crore on its fifth day, bringing its total to Rs. 29.50 crore in India.

Despite a decent start over the weekend, the sharp decline on Monday has sparked worries regarding the film's overall box office trajectory. Current estimates indicate that Kara may wrap up its theatrical run with a total gross between Rs. 33 crore and Rs. 34 crore in India, which would be seen as underwhelming for a film of its stature.

If the film does not show any notable recovery in its second weekend, projections suggest it could end its run with less than Rs. 40 crore in gross earnings, falling short of expectations given the initial buzz and the star power of its leading actors.

The daily box office collections for Kara in India are as follows: Rs. 7.25 crore on the opening day, followed by Rs. 8.00 crore on the second day, Rs. 6.25 crore on the third day, and Rs. 6.00 crore on the fourth day, culminating in Rs. 2.00 crore on Monday.

The narrative of Kara revolves around Karasamy, a reformed thief whose life is thrown into chaos due to the Gulf War between the USA and Iraq. Confronted with desperate circumstances, he is forced to revert to a life of crime to reclaim his mortgaged ancestral land and fulfill his father's last wish. Alongside Dhanush and Mamitha Baiju, the film features strong performances from KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunaas, and Jayaram in key roles.
