Karan Johar Reflects on DDLJ's Legacy

Mumbai, Dec 5: Filmmaker Karan Johar reminisced about the classic Bollywood film, "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge," describing it as his training ground while sharing cherished memories from the iconic movie featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

He referred to Yash Raj Films as his alma mater and extended warm wishes to the film's director, Aditya Chopra, on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

Karan expressed on his Instagram Stories, "My alma mater @yrf...my training ground DDLJ...lifelong relationships....The most indelible memories.....30 years of a love classic."

For those unfamiliar, Karan served as an assistant director on "DDLJ" and made a brief appearance as Shah Rukh's friend in the beloved film.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of "DDLJ," Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol unveiled a bronze statue of their characters, Raj and Simran, at Leicester Square in London.

This marks the first time an Indian film has been honored with a statue in Leicester Square, joining the ranks of iconic films like Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Paddington, and Singin' in the Rain.

Shah Rukh Khan shared his excitement on Instagram, posting a joint message with Kajol along with several photos from the unveiling event.

Expressing their joy on this significant occasion, the beloved duo wrote, “Bade Bade Deshon Mein, Aisi Chhoti Chhoti Baatein Hoti Rehti Hain, Senorita! Thrilled to unveil the bronze statue of Raj & Simran at London’s Leicester Square today, celebrating 30 years of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)! (sic)"

“We are incredibly delighted that DDLJ is the first Indian film to be honored with a statue in the Scenes in the Square trail. A big thank you to everyone in the UK for making this possible.” SRK invited all DDLJ fans to visit the statue, saying, “Come meet Raj & Simran if and when you are in London… We would love to see you make more memories with DDLJ," they added.
