Kannappa: Anticipation Builds for Telugu Mythological Film's Release
Excitement Grows for Kannappa's Premiere
The anticipation for one of the most ambitious mythological films in Telugu cinema, Kannappa, is finally coming to a head as the official countdown has commenced. Starring Vishnu Manchu, the film is set to hit theaters on June 27, and with just a day remaining, excitement is at an all-time high.
Advance ticket sales began on June 25, with over 27,000 tickets already purchased via BookMyShow in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, showcasing a remarkable initial response. In the United States, ticket sales started later, with 486 tickets sold so far, generating $10.3K, and more than 200 shows already scheduled.
The film is projected to earn Rs 100 crore globally on its opening day, positioning it as one of the largest mythological releases in Telugu cinema. Reports suggest that the opening day collection in India could exceed Rs 30 crore. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared on X (formerly Twitter), expressing expectations for Kannappa to become a Pan-India blockbuster, highlighting its grand visuals and epic storytelling.
Due to the film's immense popularity, the Andhra Pradesh government has approved a ticket price increase of Rs 50, similar to a recent adjustment made for another film, Kubera.
An official order has surfaced online, stating, 'In light of the circumstances reported, the Government, after careful consideration of the request from Sri M Mohan Babu, Producer of M/s Twenty Four Frames Factory Pvt. Ltd., grants permission for all theaters in Andhra Pradesh to raise ticket prices by up to Rs 50 + GST for 'Multiplexes' and 'Single Screens' (limited to higher class tickets) for a period of ten days from the film's release on June 27, 2025.'
The film is set to be released on over 5,400 screens globally, with 4,300 in India and 1,100 abroad, marking it as the largest release for a Telugu mythological film.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa tells the story of a hunter who becomes a devotee of Lord Shiva. Vishnu Manchu portrays Thinnandu/Kannappa, while Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva and Kajal Aggarwal takes on the role of Goddess Parvati. The cast also includes notable actors like Mohan Babu, Sharat Kumar, and Prabhas in a special appearance as Rudra.
Kannappa will be available in multiple dubbed versions alongside Telugu, including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English. The ensemble cast features Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, and Brahmaji.
