Kangana Ranaut Addresses Protests During Monsoon Session

The monsoon session of Parliament commenced on July 20, 2026, in New Delhi, coinciding with escalating protests outside. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut voiced her disapproval of the Opposition's demands, asserting that the government has the authority to decide personnel matters without being coerced by protestors. Members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and their supporters marched towards Parliament, expressing their grievances over recent NEET paper leaks and student concerns. Many protestors have been on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Kangana Ranaut Criticizes Protest Tactics

Following the first day of the parliamentary session, Kangana responded to the ongoing protests and the CJP's call for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In an interview, she emphasized that the parliamentary session is the appropriate venue for discussing such issues. She stated that while the government is accountable for its actions, creating disturbances is unacceptable.

Kangana remarked, "You cannot arm-twist the government into deciding who to sack and who to keep. This arm-twisting is not good." She encouraged protestors to engage in politics directly, stating, "It is the right of the government chosen by the people to decide how to run the government. If you feel so strongly, you should stand for election yourself." In 2024, Kangana was nominated by the BJP as their candidate for the general elections, contesting from her hometown of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

Kangana Ranaut's Recent Projects

Last year, Kangana not only starred in but also produced and directed the political drama Emergency, portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. This year, she produced and acted in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, which depicted the experiences of medical staff during the 2008 terror attacks at Mumbai's Cama Hospital. Despite its promising premise, the film did not perform well at the box office.

Currently, she is collaborating with filmmaker Vikas Bahl on the sequel to the hit film Queen (2013) and has completed shooting for Queen 2. Additionally, Kangana is reuniting with her Tanu Weds Manu co-star R. Madhavan for the trilingual psychological thriller Circle.
