Kamal Haasan Celebrates Thalapathy Vijay's Political Triumph as Tamil Nadu CM

Kamal Haasan has publicly praised Thalapathy Vijay for his recent election as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Haasan emphasized that Vijay should be recognized for his political responsibilities rather than just his film career. He commended Vijay's swift actions, including the closure of liquor shops near schools and temples, and expressed pride in his achievements. As both figures are prominent in Tamil cinema, their collaboration in politics marks a significant moment for the state. Haasan's upcoming projects also promise to keep him in the spotlight.
 

Kamal Haasan's Praise for Thalapathy Vijay


Kamal Haasan has expressed his admiration for Thalapathy Vijay following the latter's election as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Notably, Vijay transitioned from acting to politics, successfully winning the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections in 2026. His party secured a majority, allowing them to form the government. Haasan, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema, recently conveyed his pride in Vijay's achievement, emphasizing that he should not be viewed merely as a film star.

While at the airport, Kamal Haasan, who also serves as a Rajya Sabha member, was approached by reporters regarding Thalapathy Vijay's new role. He expressed his approval of Vijay's initiatives as CM, stating, “Vijay should be recognized beyond his cinematic contributions. He carries significant responsibilities now. A chief minister can emerge from any background, and I take pride that he hails from our film industry.”



Previously, Kamal Haasan commended Vijay for his decision to close 717 liquor shops located near schools and temples in Tamil Nadu. He affectionately referred to Vijay as his ‘brother’ on social media, praising his swift action against these establishments. His post highlighted the expectations of Tamil families for the removal of liquor shops near sacred and educational sites, commending Vijay for addressing this issue promptly upon taking office.



Haasan further articulated that the government should not be involved in liquor sales and expressed a desire for more shops to be closed. He congratulated Vijay and the TVK government for their commendable actions. It's worth noting that the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) manages 4,765 liquor shops throughout the state.
