Jose Mourinho, the manager of Real Madrid, has addressed comments made by Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, regarding the host country for the 2030 FIFA World Cup final. The tournament is set to be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.

During a press conference on Friday, prior to Real Madrid's La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano, Mourinho was asked about his preferred location for the World Cup final. He responded to the Spanish newspaper 'AS', stating, 'There is a distinction between where the match should occur and where I would prefer it to be held.'

Mourinho expressed his desire for the final to take place in Lisbon, explaining, 'I would like it to be in a legendary and historic stadium, where some of the greatest players in football history have played. I would maintain this opinion even if I were managing Benfica.'

Controversy Surrounding the Final Venue

These comments come amid ongoing debates regarding the final venue for the 2030 World Cup. Lekjaa recently stated at an event organized by the Authenticity and Modernity Party in Bouznika that Benslimane province would host the final. He mentioned the Grand Stade Hassan II, a stadium with a capacity of 115,000 that is still under construction, as the proposed location.

However, FIFA has since dismissed this assertion. According to reports from 'Marca', an official from FIFA clarified that no commitments had been made to Morocco concerning the 2030 final, emphasizing that the decision will be made at the appropriate time.
