Jisoo's Outfit Controversy: Designer Clarifies Misunderstanding

Jisoo, the BLACKPINK star, has been at the center of a viral controversy regarding missing outfits. Designer Benjamin Voortmans has clarified that she was not directly responsible for the situation. Initially, Voortmans accused her team of failing to return garments loaned for a photoshoot, leading to significant backlash. However, he later distanced Jisoo from the accusations, stating that his frustration was aimed at communication issues rather than her personally. This clarification comes amid heightened scrutiny as Jisoo prepares for her solo appearance at the 2026 Met Gala. The designer hopes to resolve the matter amicably and restore his brand's reputation.

Designer Addresses Controversy Involving Jisoo

Jisoo has recently become the focus of a viral controversy online, stemming from accusations made by fashion designer Benjamin Voortmans. The Belgian designer, who owns the brand Judassime, has now clarified that the BLACKPINK member was not directly at fault in the situation regarding missing outfits. This clarification follows a wave of backlash and heated discussions among fans about garments that were reportedly loaned for a photoshoot associated with one of Jisoo’s projects.

Designer Retracts Accusations Against Jisoo

The issue began when Voortmans claimed that several items from his collection had not been returned after being sent to South Korea approximately six months ago for a shoot involving Jisoo and her team. Expressing his frustration over what he described as a lack of communication, the designer took to social media to accuse the singer’s team of ignoring his requests for the return of the outfits. His strong remarks quickly led to significant backlash, with many fans feeling he was unfairly targeting Jisoo. He even encouraged followers to tag her and her agency in hopes of eliciting a response. However, as the criticism grew, Voortmans later released additional videos clarifying that his frustration was directed at the management and communication issues, not at Jisoo herself.

In a comprehensive public statement, the designer made it clear that neither Jisoo nor her label Blissoo had stolen, handled, or intentionally withheld the garments. “At no point was it my intention to accuse her directly of doing so,” he stated.

Voortmans elaborated that the delay in returning the pieces had significantly affected his independent fashion brand, both emotionally and financially. He emphasized the importance of these garments as part of his recent collection and how their absence impacted future opportunities for Judassime. He also clarified that invoices sent to the team were only relevant if the garments were permanently unreturned, and he has since received assurances that the outfits will be returned.

According to his latest statement, the controversy primarily stemmed from communication failures rather than theft allegations. “I simply hope this clarification helps separate the artist herself from the situation and the communication issues surrounding it,” he expressed.

Further Insights on the Allegations Against Jisoo

Despite softening his stance towards Jisoo, Voortmans has expressed disappointment regarding how the situation was managed by the project’s team. In one of his Instagram videos, he stated he had no intention of apologizing for voicing his concerns after receiving no response for six months. “Not getting a response for six months and not respecting us is terrible,” he remarked, while also urging people to refrain from sending hate messages. The designer mentioned that steps are being taken to resolve the issue, including arrangements for someone to collect the outfits. This controversy arose at a particularly sensitive time for Jisoo, coinciding with her much-anticipated solo appearance at the 2026 Met Gala.
