Mumbai, Feb 20: JioHotstar has released an intriguing teaser for its upcoming series titled 'Chiraiya'.

This new series tackles a significant issue prevalent in many Indian households: the misconception that marriage equates to perpetual consent.

Actress Divya Dutta, who plays a pivotal role in the series, shared her insights about the project, stating that it compelled her to confront some harsh realities about societal norms and the often unquestioned nature of marital consent.

Divya expressed, “While embodying my character in 'Chiraiya', I was repeatedly faced with the uncomfortable truth of how we often suppress our voices to maintain relationships and peace. This narrative prompted me to consider how marriage is frequently viewed as a realm of unquestioned consent, and how the notion of sacrifice can be romanticized to the extent that pain becomes overlooked.”

She emphasized that 'Chiraiya' poses a vital question: when loved ones are wronged under the guise of marriage, do you remain silent or speak out against the injustice?

“When you see someone dear to you being belittled or mistreated, do you choose silence to safeguard the status quo, or do you risk everything to uphold what is just?
