Jeetendra's Remarkable Real Estate Journey: From Rs 4.25 Lakh to Rs 500 Crore
A Transformative Real Estate Decision
Legendary actor Jeetendra has disclosed insights into one of the most lucrative real estate moves of his life. He revealed that he acquired the Pali Hill villa of actor Bharat Bhushan several decades ago for merely Rs 4.25 lakh, during a period when Bhushan was reportedly facing significant financial challenges. What started as a simple family decision evolved into a monumental investment. The villa, which Jeetendra purchased on his father's advice, is now estimated to be valued at over Rs 500 crore. Let's explore how this transaction developed over the years.
A Villa Acquired in Difficult Times
During an interview on The Reality Drive, Jeetendra recounted the circumstances surrounding the purchase, mentioning how Bharat Bhushan, a prominent star of the 1950s known for classics like Baiju Bawra, approached him with the offer. At that time, Jeetendra and his family were living a humble life, sharing a small room in a Girgaum chawl with numerous relatives. The idea of buying a villa was seen as a significant advancement for the family, something they had never envisioned.
Jeetendra credited his father for encouraging him to proceed with the acquisition. The deal was finalized for Rs 4.25 lakh, which included a plot of 3,450 square feet. However, shortly after moving in, Jeetendra experienced a series of unsuccessful films, leading him to believe that the villa had brought him misfortune. Following his father's counsel, the family decided to vacate the property soon after.
A Profitable Investment
Despite leaving the villa, Jeetendra later chose to redevelop the property, a decision that turned out to be highly beneficial. He mentioned that the Burma teak used in the villa's construction alone earned him Rs 11.5 lakh after the building was demolished, nearly tripling his initial investment.
