Debate Surrounding 'Border 2' Soundtrack

Since the unveiling of the soundtrack for 'Border 2', discussions have intensified. A significant portion of the film's music consists of reimagined tracks from the original 'Border'. Fans familiar with the original compositions have expressed their discomfort with the new versions. On social media, many have called for the return of lyricist Javed Akhtar and composer Anu Malik, who were behind the original film's songs. Javed Akhtar has now shared his perspective on the situation.

Javed Akhtar Declines Involvement with 'Border 2'

Javed Akhtar refuses to contribute to the sequel.
Reports indicate that the creators of 'Border 2' reached out to Javed Akhtar for songwriting. However, he declined the offer. In light of the ongoing discussions about the film's music, Akhtar stated, "They approached me to write for the film, but I turned it down. I genuinely feel this reflects a sort of creative stagnation. You have a classic song that is already excellent, and you wish to recreate it? Instead, compose new music; otherwise, acknowledge that you cannot produce work of that quality."

The Importance of Original Music

Javed Akhtar stresses the need for fresh compositions.
He elaborated, "Let the original creations stand as they are. Why is there a necessity to recreate them? The songs from 'Haqeeqat' (1964) were exceptional, yet we chose not to reuse them. We crafted new songs, and they were well-received. If you are producing a new film, create new music. Why rely on past successes? It suggests you are unable to reach that standard."
