Jang Dong-joo Shocks Fans with Sudden Retirement Amid Financial Troubles
Jang Dong-joo's Unexpected Exit from Acting
Fans of South Korean star Jang Dong-joo were taken aback when he announced his abrupt retirement from acting. Recent reports indicate that the actor faced police involvement just prior to his announcement. Jang has been experiencing a series of unfortunate events, including a hacking and blackmail incident that resulted in significant financial losses. The 31-year-old's sudden departure from the entertainment industry has left many questioning the reasons behind his decision. His latest issue involves an unpaid bar tab in Seoul, adding to his list of troubles.
Incident at a Seoul Club
As reported by Allkpop, on May 14, Jang Dong-joo visited an "adult entertainment venue" in Banpo-dong, Seoul, where he accumulated a bill of approximately 3 million KRW (around $2,200). He claimed that a friend would come to settle the payment later and received an additional 10 million KRW in store credit. However, when no one arrived to pay the bill by 3 am on May 15, the establishment called the police.
Authorities allowed Jang to leave after he assured them he would pay the total of 13 million KRW by 6 pm the following day. Shortly after, he posted his retirement announcement, which stunned both fans and the media. In his message, he expressed, "As of today, I intend to lay down my life as actor Jang Dong Joo," reflecting on the cherished moments he spent in front of the camera. He has not addressed the allegations regarding the unpaid bill, and his social media accounts have been cleared of his acting-related content.
