Jana Nayagan Takes the Box Office by Storm

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan has made a significant impact in both India and international markets, achieving packed theaters and setting records for the highest opening day for a Tamil film. This film marks Vijay's final role as a full-time actor before he transitions into politics, following his recent election victory and swearing-in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Industry analysts predict that the film could earn between Rs 80 crore and Rs 100 crore globally on its debut.

Aiming for a Rs 100 Crore Opening

On July 23, the film had a phenomenal start, raking in over Rs 15 crore in India from advance ticket sales alone, while global pre-sales exceeded Rs 30 crore, according to reports. Exhibitors are anticipating full houses throughout the opening weekend, with numerous shows scheduled across the country, leading to significant last-minute bookings.

Advance Bookings Break Records

The film has set a new benchmark by selling one million advance tickets on BookMyShow, becoming only the fifth Tamil film to achieve this feat. The platform announced on Thursday that Jana Nayagan had secured 1.2 million ticket bookings, stating, "Mass beyond measure. Love beyond numbers! 1.2 million advance bookings and the hype keeps getting stronger." This achievement is particularly notable for Vijay, as this film, following Leo and The GOAT, marks his third to surpass the one million advance ticket milestone, a record unmatched by any other Tamil actor.

In the days leading up to the release, ticket sales surged dramatically. Once marketing efforts intensified and promotional activities were completed, daily ticket sales skyrocketed, with over 300,000 tickets sold in a single day prior to the release.

High Demand for the Tamil Version

The Tamil version of the film has seen substantial ticket sales, dominating the market across India. It reportedly earned over Rs 10 crore in pre-sales, with more than four lakh tickets sold, as per trade analysts. The Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions also contributed to the overall sales, albeit to a lesser extent.

Internationally, the film has generated strong interest, with advance ticket sales in North America surpassing $350,000, and impressive sales figures reported in the Middle East, highlighting Vijay's global appeal. Despite rumors of a leaked version circulating online before its release, audience enthusiasm remains high, with fans flocking to theaters to support the film.
