IU Postpones Comeback Plans Due to Health Issues
IU's Health Concerns Lead to Schedule Changes
Fans of South Korean singer-songwriter IU are expressing their concern following her announcement regarding changes to her much-anticipated comeback. In a sincere message to her supporters, IU revealed that she is dealing with a health issue that has hindered her ability to perform optimally. Consequently, she has chosen to adjust her upcoming schedule, placing her recovery as a priority over her planned engagements. Although this news has disappointed many who were looking forward to her return, IU reassured her fans that she is committed to delivering music and performances that align with her high standards. She also conveyed her appreciation for their understanding and steadfast support during this challenging time.
IU Delays Comeback Plans
IU announced the cancellation of her scheduled concert at Goyang Stadium in September and the postponement of her sixth studio album release due to a worsening of her chronic Patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction. In a heartfelt letter shared on Berriz, she explained that while she had hoped to proceed with her planned activities, her health condition made it unfeasible. "My ear symptoms have always fluctuated, but recently they have been persistent, making it hard for me to sing," IU stated. She noted that the concert and her domestic tour were intended to be the highlights of her comeback, but due to her ongoing health issues, she made the difficult decision to cancel these events to focus on her recovery.
IU also mentioned that she had completed the recording of her sixth studio album. However, since the promotional activities were centered around the concert and tour, the album's release has been delayed by several months. Apologizing for the unforeseen changes, IU expressed, "I'm truly sorry, and I love you so much." Despite this setback, she reassured her fans of her commitment to return with new music, promising a "diverse new album" and expressing her desire to start 2027 with her fans after taking the necessary time to heal.
IU Takes Legal Action Against Online Harassment
In addition to her health struggles, IU is also addressing issues of online defamation. She has sought legal assistance from a federal court in the United States to obtain evidence from Meta, aiming to identify an anonymous social media user accused of disseminating false and damaging claims about her. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, stated that the gathered information, including account details and IP records, will be utilized in ongoing legal actions against malicious online harassment in South Korea.
