Mumbai, July 23: Actress Isha Koppikar has voiced her perspective regarding the criticism directed at Bollywood stars for their perceived silence on the ongoing student protests linked to the alleged NEET paper leak.

The actress firmly stated that it is not mandatory for celebrities to comment on every issue, emphasizing that sometimes, choosing to remain silent can be a responsible decision.

In a video posted on her social media, Isha responded to fans questioning her lack of commentary on the situation.

She remarked, "Namaskar, many fans have asked why I haven't spoken about NEET. I believe it's essential to convey that even if I feel strongly about something, it isn't always necessary to voice it. Silence can also signify responsibility."

Isha elaborated that public figures must carefully consider their words, as every statement is subject to scrutiny and can be easily misinterpreted.

"As public figures, we understand that our words can be interpreted in various ways. People often wonder why celebrities remain silent, but when our words lead to backlash, we are left to face the consequences alone," she explained.

Highlighting the distinct roles individuals play, Isha asserted that celebrities cannot substitute for the institutions tasked with making decisions.

"Everyone has their role. It is not the duty of celebrities to comment on every issue, nor can we replace the authorities responsible for decision-making," she stated.

She urged the public not to confuse silence with apathy, saying, "Do not interpret our silence as indifference. Sometimes, it is a well-considered choice."

She continued, "Regardless of how many slogans we raise or how loud we speak, ultimately, it is the authorities who must make the right and timely decisions. We need more than just reactions; we require effective implementation. Timely and correct decisions lead to genuine change.”

In closing, Isha emphasized, "Responsible behavior means exercising your rights thoughtfully. Speak not for attention or headlines, but with intention. Ultimately, meaningful actions resonate more than mere words. Jai Hind."

Isha Koppikar’s comments come in the wake of ongoing student protests in Delhi concerning the alleged NEET paper leak and other examination-related issues.

For context, protesters are calling for increased transparency in the examination process, strict action against those involved in the NEET paper leak, and the resignation of the Union Education Minister over the matter.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk has also shown his support for the protesting students, engaging in a strict fast until their demands are addressed.
