Mumbai, Oct 15: Ashoke Pandit, a filmmaker and Chief Advisor of FWICE, has expressed his approval of the decision to instruct actor Imran Khan, nephew of superstar Aamir Khan, to exit India. He emphasized that one must prioritize being an Indian when advocating for their rights.

Pandit criticized Imran's involvement in a protest that called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, stating that citizens should respect the Constitution and laws of the nation.

On October 15, the Mumbai Police issued a directive for Imran Khan to leave the country by October 28, following his participation in the protest.

Imran has faced action under Sections 7 and 29 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, having received a formal notice. He was detained on October 10 related to the protest, with authorities citing his non-citizen status as a reason for the action taken against him.

Pandit welcomed the government's decision, asserting that those who protest without understanding their rights should reconsider their actions. He stated, “To fight for your rights as an Indian, you have to be an Indian first. This is a lesson in citizenship.”

He remarked that Imran seemed to treat the protest lightly, akin to a casual outing, and stressed the importance of understanding one's rights as a citizen. He praised the government's firm stance against individuals who undermine the Constitution under the guise of free expression.

Pandit further stated that Imran lacks the authority to question the government, suggesting that someone should have clarified this to him. He cautioned against using serious national issues for personal gain in the entertainment industry, labeling it a misguided choice.

He concluded by stating that this serves as a warning to those who trivialize the law, reminding them that the country operates under the Constitution, with established systems and judiciary. He reiterated his support for the government's decision and urged Imran to comply and return to his home country, expressing that the nation should view this decision positively.
