Hoppers: The Animated Hit Closing in on Casino Royale's Box Office Record!
Hoppers Surges in Box Office Rankings
Currently, Hoppers has amassed an impressive $370.6 million globally, making it the second-highest-grossing animated feature of 2026, just behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which has earned $848.8 million. Released approximately eight weeks ago, Pixar's latest film has already outperformed its predecessor, Elio, which grossed $154.3 million worldwide. With a production budget of $150 million, Hoppers needs to reach $375 million to break even, and projections suggest it will close the $4.4 million gap shortly.
The film had a robust debut, raking in $45.3 million from 4,000 theaters across North America. During the weekend of April 24-26, it added another $1.9 million, bringing its domestic total to $164.6 million. As it continues its theatrical journey, Hoppers is nearing the domestic earnings of Casino Royale, the 2006 James Bond film that introduced Daniel Craig as the iconic character.
While Casino Royale leads in global earnings, the domestic competition is much tighter. Hoppers is approximately $2.8 million away from surpassing Casino Royale in North America. If it experiences a 50% drop in earnings during the May 1-3 weekend compared to the previous weekend's $1.9 million, and maintains consistent weekday performance, it stands a good chance of achieving this goal, despite facing competition from new releases.
Directed by Daniel Chong, Hoppers is an animated sci-fi comedy that tells the story of Mabel, an animal enthusiast who uses groundbreaking technology to transfer human consciousness into realistic robotic animals. When she hops into a robotic beaver to communicate with wildlife, Mabel discovers a threat to their forest home and must unite the animals to safeguard their habitat.
The upcoming weeks will be pivotal for Hoppers' box office success, as audiences continue to embrace its innovative concept and captivating narrative. The film's ability to hold its ground against new releases will significantly influence its overall performance.
