In a recent discussion with Variety India, Barker reflected on the film's unexpected acclaim, admitting he never foresaw such a positive response. "I definitely did not expect Obsession to be a big hit in India. I didn’t expect it to be a big hit anywhere, really," he remarked. The director conveyed his delight in witnessing his creation resonate with audiences, stating, "We made this movie for nothing. I just can’t believe that it’s getting the recognition that it’s getting."

The remarkable success of "Obsession" has attracted the interest of prominent Hollywood studios, yet Barker remains wary of the industry's studio dynamics. He shared his personal concerns, saying, "I’m actually more nervous about myself than the studio system. I’m going to figure it out."
