At the press conference in Mumbai, Holland recounted his initial visit to the film's set in Morocco, which left him in awe. He described the experience, saying, "As I walked over the crest of a sand dune, it felt as if I had traveled back in time rather than stepping onto a film set. The enormity of our project was astonishing. I saw thousands of costumed extras, numerous boats, and horses standing in the sand as waves crashed around them. An assistant director directed me, saying, 'Just head that way, and you'll eventually find the crew.'"

Adapting Acting Techniques for IMAX

Why Tom Holland had to adapt his acting for IMAX

Holland, known for his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, commended the camera team for their exceptional work. He noted, "Our camera crew operated like a Formula 1 pit crew—quick, efficient, and highly professional. During emotionally charged scenes, maintaining momentum was crucial, and our team ensured we never lost that. I was fortunate to have performed in a play the previous year, which helped me understand the importance of capturing those fleeting moments on film, similar to stage performances where timing is everything."

Bringing Stage Discipline to Film

Holland explained that the discipline he gained from performing on stage was invaluable on The Odyssey set. He remarked, "There’s a significant difference between acting on stage and in film, and an even greater distinction when it comes to IMAX acting. The subtlety required is immense, especially since you might appear towering on the IMAX screen. Navigating this challenge was enjoyable, and everyone rose to meet it." The film, inspired by Homer's Odyssey, also stars Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. It is set to hit theaters globally on July 17.
