The Odyssey's Impressive Box Office Performance

Christopher Nolan's latest film, The Odyssey, continues to achieve remarkable success at the Indian box office, marking another significant milestone in its theatrical journey. This mythological epic has now surpassed the earnings of Nolan's previous film, Oppenheimer, at the same point in its release. The Odyssey features a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson.

As per estimates from Sacnilk, The Odyssey garnered Rs 11.45 crore net on its tenth day, reflecting a 3.6% increase from the previous day's Rs 11.05 crore. The film was showcased in 4,638 shows across the country, bringing its total net collection in India to approximately Rs 119.65 crore, with gross earnings reaching Rs 142.86 crore.

With these impressive figures, The Odyssey has comfortably outperformed Oppenheimer's Day 10 total in India, which stood at Rs 92.15 crore net and Rs 110.30 crore gross after ten days, with a Day 10 collection of Rs 7.35 crore net from 2,920 shows. The Odyssey has established a lead of over Rs 27 crore in net collections compared to Oppenheimer at the same stage of its run.

The film also concluded a robust second weekend, accumulating an estimated Rs 29.35 crore net, supported by collections of Rs 6.85 crore on Friday, Rs 11.05 crore on Saturday, and Rs 11.45 crore on Sunday. Although the second weekend saw a nearly 50% decline compared to its opening weekend, the film has shown impressive staying power.

The English version of The Odyssey has been the primary driver of its success in India. On Day 10, the original English version earned around Rs 9.75 crore, while the Hindi dubbed version contributed Rs 1.40 crore. The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions added approximately Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, respectively.

Despite facing tough competition from Vijay's Jana Nayagan, which debuted with an estimated Rs 124.75 crore net during its opening weekend, The Odyssey has maintained a strong presence, especially in premium formats and multiplexes. The film's consistent performance highlights Christopher Nolan's lasting appeal among Indian viewers.

The Odyssey is anticipated to maintain its momentum until the release of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled for July 30. This film will reunite Holland and Zendaya for the second time within a month, alongside Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, whose role remains undisclosed.
