Nearly three decades after the original film gained a cult following, this Warner Bros. release raked in an estimated $30 million from 4,146 theaters. This impressive start ended the six-week reign of the superhero hit Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which had been leading the domestic box office since its launch.

Directed by Susanne Bier, the sequel brings back original stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, who reprise their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens. The plot continues the saga of the witching family as they strive to lift a long-standing ancestral curse, while also introducing a fresh cast of characters played by Joey King and Maisie Williams, along with Lee Pace.
