Controversy Surrounding Ranveer Singh's Departure from Don 3

The ongoing controversy regarding Ranveer Singh's alleged withdrawal from Don 3 has taken a new twist. Ashoke Pandit, the Chief Advisor of FWICE and President of IFTDA, recently shared insights into the federation's decision-making process. In an interview, he stated that the film's producers, directed by Farhan Akhtar, had submitted a wealth of documentation, including expense reports, signing details, and WhatsApp conversations, to back their complaint. Pandit noted that the actor pulled out just weeks before filming was scheduled to commence, despite significant funds already being allocated during the pre-production phase.

Insights from Ashoke Pandit on 'Non-Cooperation'

In a recent discussion with Hindi Rush, Pandit revealed that the Don 3 team had formally approached the federation after considerable investments had been made. He mentioned that the producers provided documentation outlining pre-production costs, signing fees, and other financial obligations. According to him, approximately Rs 45 crore had already been invested in the film, which is typical for a large-scale project with a budget estimated at around Rs 300 crore. Pandit explained that FWICE adhered to its standard protocol before making any decisions, stating, "We sent one letter, followed by another and then a third reminder," but received no response. The only communication they received questioned the federation's jurisdiction in the matter.

Review of WhatsApp Chats and Production Preparations

Pandit emphasized that the federation examined evidence before declaring non-cooperation. He claimed that FWICE scrutinized WhatsApp exchanges involving Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, and Ritesh Sidhwani, along with records indicating that styling and costume preparations were finalized. He further alleged that travel arrangements had been made, including booked tickets and hotel accommodations, with the unit set to leave for the shoot in three weeks. These preparations suggest that the project had progressed significantly beyond the planning phase. Addressing rumors of a ban on the actor, Pandit clarified that FWICE never used the term 'ban.' He pointed out that the federation lacks the authority to impose bans and only declared non-cooperation, meaning that FWICE-affiliated workers and technicians would refrain from participating in projects featuring the actor, which differs from an outright ban.

Pandit reiterated that the core issue revolves around accountability rather than the reasons behind Ranveer's departure. He argued that producers should offer compensation if substantial financial losses arise after a commitment or agreement has been made. He also mentioned that FWICE is collaborating with producers' associations to establish a Standard Operating Procedure for the industry, emphasizing that the goal is not to target any individual but to foster mutual trust and discipline.
