A Tribute to Antoinette Bower

Antoinette Bower, a celebrated actress in Hollywood, renowned for her unforgettable performances in classic TV shows like 'Star Trek' and 'The Twilight Zone,' has sadly passed away at the age of 93. Her death occurred on April 30, as reported by various media outlets. At the time of her passing, she was living at the Eagle Rock senior retirement community in Los Angeles. The news was shared by her close friend, Carlotta Glackin, although the specific cause of her death remains undisclosed.

Born in 1932 in Baden-Baden, Germany, Bower was the daughter of a German mother and an English father. She began her professional journey in the late 1940s, working as a field language supervisor and welfare counselor, aiding those impacted by World War II. In 1953, she moved to Canada with her family, where she joined a broadcasting company’s public affairs department. During this period, she not only penned scripts but also conducted live television interviews, setting the stage for her acting career.

Bower's acting journey took off in 1956 with minor roles in various television series, including 'The Tell-Tale Heart' (1958) and 'Hudson’s Bay' (1959). From the 1960s through the 1980s, she became a familiar face, especially known for her portrayal of the shape-shifting alien Sylvia in 'Star Trek' and Eva Norda in 'The Twilight Zone.' Over her prolific career, she participated in around 100 acting projects, demonstrating her range in shows such as 'Kojak,' 'Columbo,' 'Perry Mason,' 'The Fugitive,' 'Hawaii Five-O,' and 'Murder, She Wrote.' She also had a significant recurring role on 'Neon Rider' for three seasons.

In the film industry, Bower made notable appearances in the 1972 Filipino horror movie 'Superbeast,' as well as in 'Prom Night' (1980) and 'The Evil That Men Do' (1984), where she starred alongside Charles Bronson.
