Disha Patani Takes on a New Challenge
Star of Malang, Disha Patani, is set to make her mark in Hollywood with her role in The Portal of Force, a fantasy action film directed by Kevin Spacey. The film's trailer has just been released, highlighting Disha's action-packed performance in the first installment of the Statiguards vs. Holiguards series. Alongside her, the cast features notable names such as Spacey, Dolph Lundgren, Tyrese Gibson, Brianna Hildebrand, and Eric Roberts, with the screenplay co-written by Sergey Torchilin and Lado Okhotnikov. Disha Patani's Character in The Portal of Force
Lado Okhotnikov shared the trailer on YouTube, giving fans a sneak peek at Disha's character, Jessica. She is depicted as the chosen one who bridges the gap between the two warring factions, the Holiguards and the Statiguards, after discovering her lineage as the child of rival leaders. In addition to Disha, Okhotnikov plays Master Dao, the leader of the Holiguards; Spacey portrays Adel; Lundgren takes on the role of Monk; Roberts is Ensis; and Gibson plays Brute. The cast also includes Sonia Couling, Brianna Hildebrand, Harry Goodwins, and Swen Temmel.
The narrative unfolds in a near-future setting plagued by hidden supernatural elements, where two factions engage in a secret battle for humanity's future. The film will also feature a Statiguard strategist plotting an attack on Paris using a nuclear weapon and an army of mind-controlled individuals, alongside an ancient entity known as the Prime. The film is expected to be available on streaming platforms later this year, marking Spacey's return to directing after more than twenty years. Earlier this year, he appeared in the Spanish film Torrente for President.
Disha Patani's Reflections on Her Role
As reported by Pinkvilla, Disha shared that her entry into Hollywood was both thrilling and intimidating, but working with a talented and diverse cast was an enriching experience. She emphasized that storytelling knows no boundaries and expressed her enjoyment in portraying Jessica. "I’ve always had a passion for action, and showcasing what I've learned on my home ground to a global audience is incredibly empowering," she remarked.
Upcoming Projects for Disha Patani
This year, Disha made a cameo in Vishal Bhardwaj's O'Romeo. She also has several franchise films lined up, including Welcome to the Jungle and Awarapan 2. The Akshay Kumar-led Welcome to the Jungle is slated for a June release, while the sequel to Awarapan, featuring Emraan Hashmi, is set for August 2026.
