A high-definition pirated copy of the movie appeared on X (formerly Twitter), quickly gaining millions of views before being taken down and the accounts involved suspended. Despite this setback, the film continues to perform remarkably well at the global box office, nearing the impressive milestone of USD 700 million. Universal Pictures, the production company behind the film, has responded promptly to the situation.

A high-quality unauthorized version of The Odyssey was uploaded to X on July 25 by an anonymous user, who has since faced account suspension. As reported by Variety, a post on X that exclaimed, "Someone uploaded The Odyssey full movie on X. Can you believe it?" drew attention to the now-suspended account that shared the pirated film. This upload garnered over 2.1 million views within just two and a half hours before it was removed. Following this, X issued a copyright takedown notice and suspended the account responsible for the upload.

Even after the original upload was taken down, several copies briefly circulated on the platform. Many of these were later replaced with misleading 'Rickroll' videos, diverting viewers to Rick Astley's classic hit, Never Gonna Give You Up, instead of the actual film. Other major releases, including Ryan Gosling's Barbie, also faced similar leaks on X.

In light of the piracy incident, Universal Pictures released an official statement confirming their swift action to eliminate the unauthorized upload. They stated, "We became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. The Odyssey, filmed entirely with IMAX cameras, continues to achieve remarkable box office results and is on track to become one of Nolan's most commercially successful films. Despite the piracy issue attracting significant attention on social media, The Odyssey has maintained a strong theatrical presence. According to Sacnilk, the film has grossed nearly USD 640 million globally against a reported budget of USD 270 million within its first ten days in theaters. In India, it has earned Rs 142.86 crore gross and Rs 119.65 crore net.
