In a recent interview, actress Anya Taylor-Joy shared her thoughts on the ongoing discourse about method acting, pointing out the differences in how male and female performers engage with their roles. The star of Dune expressed her view that women often face barriers that prevent them from fully immersing themselves in their characters, largely due to the various responsibilities they juggle outside of their acting careers.

Taylor-Joy, who has received widespread acclaim for her work, clarified that she does not consider herself a method actor and does not plan to adopt this technique in the future. During her discussion with Complex News, she highlighted the unique challenges women encounter in this acting style. “Women typically don’t method act because we have other commitments, so we can’t completely lose ourselves,” she stated.

She described acting as a form of "controlled psychosis," where an actor embodies another character's mindset and behaviors for extended periods. This immersive experience, she noted, can feel like having a close friend or roommate temporarily residing in one’s mind.

As both the lead and executive producer of the Apple TV+ series Lucky, Taylor-Joy mentioned that her dedication to her roles sometimes blurs the lines between her personal and professional life. “Occasionally, if it gets too intense, they’ll call me by my character’s name and say, ‘We need to check in again,’” she shared. She stressed the importance of maintaining a balance, as being overly absorbed in a character can impede collaboration with fellow cast and crew, which is vital for a successful production.

Looking to the future, Anya Taylor-Joy is poised to continue her remarkable career with several exciting projects. She will reprise her role as Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Three, set for release on December 18, 2026. Additionally, she has been cast as Seren, a new Sindar Elf character in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which is scheduled for December 17, 2027.

In addition to these major franchise films, Taylor-Joy is also working on Netflix's adaptation of How to Kill Your Family and a new project titled Sacrifice, directed by Romain Gavras and featuring Chris Evans and Salma Hayek.
