This year's ceremony took place at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, with Kristen Bell returning as the host. A plethora of Hollywood celebrities, including Kate Hudson, Timothée Chalamet, and Emma Stone, graced the event, which honored outstanding achievements in the film industry. Woody Harrelson presented the Life Achievement Award to the legendary Harrison Ford, marking a significant moment in the evening. Given that many SAG-AFTRA members are integral to the Academy, the results of the Actor Awards could influence the ongoing Oscars race.

Michael B. Jordan Clinches Best Actor for 'Sinners'

The competition for Best Lead Actor was fierce this year, featuring notable performances from Leonardo DiCaprio in One Battle After Another, Michael B. Jordan in Sinners, Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme, Ethan Hawke in Blue Moon, and Jesse Plemons in Bugonia. Ultimately, Michael B. Jordan emerged victorious, taking home the award for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role for his work in Sinners.

Interestingly, Jordan previously won an ensemble award in 2019 for Black Panther and celebrated another ensemble win this year for Sinners.

The Best Lead Actress category was equally competitive, featuring Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue, Chase Infiniti for One Battle After Another, and Emma Stone for Bugonia. For over thirty years, the award statuette has been known as 'The Actor,' and aligning the ceremony's title with the award's name was deemed logical. This rebranding aims to clarify the show's purpose for audiences both in the U.S. and globally, emphasizing its mission to celebrate outstanding performances in film and television.
