Get Ready for a Hilarious Evening: 'Last Over' Play to Hit Bhubaneswar Stage!
Exciting Theatre Event in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Theatre enthusiasts in Bhubaneswar are set for a delightful evening as the Hindi comedy play Last Over will be performed at the Railway Auditorium on November 6. This event, organized by the Zain Foundation Trust, aims to raise funds for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and will run from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The play, produced by Coconut Theatre, is penned by Abhishek Pattnaik and directed by Suketu Shah.
The narrative unfolds during the thrilling India-Pakistan Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s, London, and delves into themes of family dynamics, cultural contrasts, and the fervor of cricket through a series of comedic scenarios. The plot centers on newlyweds Sunny Arora, an Indian, and Zubaina Kazmi, a Pakistani, who have secretly married and are involved in catering for the much-anticipated cricket match.
Their well-kept secret is put to the test when their cricket-enthusiast fathers unexpectedly show up at their London residence, eager to secure tickets for the sold-out game. The comedic chaos ensues as the fathers' traditional views, interfaith biases, sporting obsessions, and concealed hypocrisies clash with the reality of their children's relationship. This leads to a cascade of misunderstandings, clever dialogues, and surprising discoveries, humorously addressing social divides and showcasing cricket's unifying essence.
Renowned actors Rakesh Bedi and Ananth Mahadevan portray the fathers, Jasjit Arora and Nazir Kazmi, respectively. Abhishek Pattnaik takes on the role of Sunny Arora, while Gunjan Malhotra plays Zubaina Kazmi. The cast also includes Zachary Coffin and Yashaswee Gandhi. By intertwining humor with modern social issues, Last Over promises a captivating theatrical experience, using the universal love for cricket to examine relationships, biases, and the quirks of daily life.
