Clooney's Strong Words Against Trump's Remarks

Hollywood icon George Clooney has strongly criticized former US President Donald Trump for his alarming comments about potentially destroying "an entire civilization" if Iran did not adhere to his ceasefire terms, as reported by a media outlet. Speaking to around 3,000 high school students in Cuneo, Italy, Clooney expressed deep concerns about rising geopolitical tensions. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, he stated, "Some people find Donald Trump acceptable. However, if anyone suggests he aims to obliterate a civilization, that is a war crime."

Clooney's Call for Ethical Political Discourse

He further highlighted the importance of maintaining ethical standards in political discussions. "It’s possible to support conservative viewpoints, but there must be a line of decency that we should not cross," he remarked.

Clooney also shared his worries regarding Trump's stance on NATO amid the ongoing tensions with Iran. "I have serious concerns about NATO," he said. "It has provided security for Europe and the world. The idea of dismantling such an institution is frightening. Despite its flaws, I believe the U.S. [with NATO] has achieved many significant successes that have stood the test of time," as noted by the media outlet.

During the event, Clooney engaged warmly with the students, greeting them in Italian before switching to English. He humorously advised the audience to "be careful with your words" when speaking Italian.
