She disclosed that the couple has been living apart and is now pursuing divorce. In light of this news, an old clip from Bigg Boss 19 featuring Gaurav has resurfaced, where he faced criticism for allegedly using the topic of children to evoke sympathy. During the show, he inquired with celebrity astrologer Jai Madaan about the possibility of having children with Akanksha in the future.

At a press conference for Bigg Boss 19, Gaurav became emotional when asked about fatherhood. A journalist questioned whether he was seeking sympathy by discussing children, despite having decided against having kids with Akanksha. In a clip that has gone viral, Gaurav expressed his love for children and admitted that he initially desired to start a family with Akanksha. He stated, "In today's world, few men love their wives enough to put aside their own desires for them," in Hindi. Later, Farrhana Bhatt asked Gaurav why he reacted so strongly when discussing children and his wife. Gaurav responded by questioning her feelings when Jai Madaan brought up her father, emphasizing that he also prefers not to have discussions about his wife.

On Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, Akanksha clarified that the decision to end their marriage was mutual. She noted that their relationship remains amicable, and they still communicate. "We don't believe we are compatible as partners because we envision very different futures, but not together. There is no animosity between us," she explained. The couple tied the knot in 2016 in Kanpur, Gaurav's hometown. The reality show premiered on June 27 at 8 PM on Netflix and will air from Saturday to Wednesday at the same time.
