On his birthday, March 24, Emraan Hashmi first announced Awarapan 2 with a nostalgic teaser from the original film, which concluded with the film's logo and the number '2' indicating the sequel. The original Awarapan was also re-released in February 2025. For those unfamiliar, the 2007 film ends tragically with Shivam's death during a climactic gunfight while saving Reema, allowing her to escape. His sacrifice brings him redemption and love, as he dies envisioning her safety, freeing him from past guilt and allowing him to reunite with his love, Aliyah, in the afterlife.
