Excitement Builds for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Featuring Ranbir Kapoor
Anticipation Surrounds Ramayana's Release
The buzz around Namit Malhotra’s upcoming film, Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, has intensified since the release of its first look on social media. While some viewers have raised concerns about the use of AI in the teaser, others are eagerly awaiting the reveal of Sunny Deol’s portrayal of Lord Hanuman. In the meantime, interviews with director Nitesh Tiwari and lead actor Ranbir Kapoor are circulating online, providing insights into what audiences can expect from the film.
In one interview, Tiwari expressed his excitement and nervousness about a particular scene he is eager to watch with the audience: Lord Rama’s exile. He described this moment as the film's most emotional highlight, stating, “What I am really looking forward to watching in the theatre, along with the audience, is when Lord Ram leaves for exile.” He elaborated that the entire city will gather to bid farewell to Rama, sharing in his sorrow. “Every time I watch it, it moves me, and I truly hope it resonates with the audience in the same way,” he added.
Meanwhile, the teaser has received mixed reactions on social media, with some praising it while others criticize the AI elements, despite the film's impressive reported production budget of Rs 4000 crore. Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has defended the film's visual effects, encouraging audiences to appreciate the filmmakers' vision. In an Instagram post, he acknowledged that while poor VFX exists, he admires those who dare to innovate in cinema. He stated, “Today some special humans among us, like the makers of films like Kalki 2898 AD, Baahubali, Ramayana, (also my dad for Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish of course) are my heroes, they have the guts and vision to do what's never been done - all for the love of cinema so that we - the audience get to experience something never watched before.”
Hrithik further praised the filmmaker's ambition, saying, "What I would give to be a part of such dreams even as an assistant." Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, the film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Ramayana is set for a grand theatrical release during Diwali 2026, promising to be one of the most visually and emotionally engaging mythological epics in recent years.
