Euphoria Season 3: A Tribute to Lost Talents

Between the second and third seasons of Euphoria, the series faced the tragic loss of several pivotal cast and crew members. In 2023, Angus Cloud, known for his role in the show, passed away due to an overdose, while executive producer Kevin Turen succumbed to a cardiac incident. Additionally, Eric Dane, who had been battling ALS, died on February 19 of this year. As the third season debuted on HBO, the show, crafted by Sam Levinson, honored these individuals with an 'in memoriam' segment during the end credits. The series, featuring stars like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi, returned with a narrative set five years later.

Euphoria Season 3 'In Memoriam' Tribute

On April 12, following the launch of its first episode titled Ándale, Euphoria concluded with a black screen that paid homage to Cloud, Dane, and Turen. Each tribute was marked with a dedicated 'in memoriam' credit. Dane, who portrayed Cal, Nate's father, managed to film his scenes for the third season before his passing. His character navigates a complex bisexual history and has had encounters with Jules, a classmate of Nate.

Levinson expressed his sorrow over Dane's death, describing their friendship as a treasured experience. Cloud, who was a breakout star despite having no prior acting experience, played Fezco, a drug dealer with close ties to main characters Rue and Lexi.

Cloud's tragic passing from an accidental overdose was deeply felt by the Euphoria family. In the premiere of Season 3, Fezco is mentioned as still being alive, having received a 30-year prison sentence, with Rue encouraging Lexi to reach out to him.

The final tribute in the 'in memoriam' segment was dedicated to executive producer Turen, who co-founded Little Lamb Productions with Levinson. Turen had also worked on Levinson's other projects, including The Idol and films like Assassination Nation and Malcolm & Marie. He experienced a cardiac emergency while driving on November 12, 2023, just months after Cloud's death in August.
