Enola's Wedding Dilemma in Malta

While in Malta for her wedding, Enola grapples with the decision to abandon her identity. As she heads to the church, Dr. John Watson (Himesh Patel) delivers unsettling news: Sherlock has gone missing. Enola and Tewkesbury chose Malta for their nuptials, a nod to his family's history there during the British Empire's reign.

Feeling remorseful after a quarrel with Sherlock, Enola is determined to find him. She discovers a clue in Morse code on a mirror, leading her to Afghanistan. Following a British soldier linked to Sherlock, she arrives too late, finding him fatally shot, uttering only the word "Wrath."

The Return of Moriarty

Upon returning, Enola finds her future mother-in-law missing and the hotel ablaze. A freedom fighter named Mikiel (Joe Azzopardi) reveals that they have been taken by Professor Adeline Rathe. Enola realizes that the Maltese are seeking independence from British rule. Unfortunately, another lead ends tragically when a woman is murdered. Enola deduces that Professor Moriarty (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) is orchestrating these events. Previously captured by Sherlock in the second film, she has now assumed a new identity.

Moriarty's True Intentions

While detained with Tewkesbury's mother, Sherlock uncovers that Moriarty is behind their abduction. The kidnapping serves as a ploy to manipulate Enola into doing her bidding. Enola connects the dots, realizing that Khost was a significant clue tied to Tewkesbury's late father and his godfather, Brigadier Sampson (Jason Watkins), who were involved in a historical battle in Afghanistan. They learn that soldiers had stolen gold from a shrine and intended to hide it in Malta, but Tewkesbury's father had a change of heart and sunk the ship carrying the treasure.

Enola's Heroic Rescue

Enola and Watson venture to the cave where the stolen gold is hidden, but Moriarty tracks them down. A fierce gunfight ensues, allowing Moriarty to escape. She leads Enola to where Sherlock and Tewkesbury's mother are held captive. After a struggle, Enola successfully frees them, and Moriarty is apprehended once more.

The stolen gold is set to return to Afghanistan, while the soldiers involved face justice. With everything resolved, Enola and Tewkesbury finally exchange vows, but Enola opts to retain her independence, while Tewkesbury relinquishes his title to live as Earnest Tebbity-Gore, a name Enola is not fond of.

Hints of Future Adventures

As the newlyweds enjoy a moonlit swim, the camera reveals the wreck of a ship named The Wrath of Adeline 1833. This raises questions about Moriarty's fate and hints at the possibility of a fourth film. Fans are left to speculate about what lies ahead.
