Dulquer Salmaan's Upcoming Film 'Kaantha' Set in 1950s Madras Unveils Teaser
Teaser Release for 'Kaantha'
Dulquer Salmaan is gearing up for his much-anticipated film 'Kaantha', which takes place in Madras during the 1950s. This film will explore the rivalry between two creative minds in the film industry, centering on the production of India's inaugural Tamil horror movie. To celebrate Dulquer's birthday, the filmmakers have released the teaser for 'Kaantha', generating excitement among fans.

In addition to Dulquer, the film features Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse in prominent roles. Samuthirakani portrays a visionary writer-director, while Bhagyashri plays the role of an actress.
The teaser begins with a conversation about creating the first Tamil horror film, featuring Ayya (played by Samuthirakani). Tension escalates with the arrival of the lead character (Dulquer Salmaan), who begins altering the script. Flashbacks reveal the growing discord between the actor and the director, hinting at a troubled relationship.
'Kaantha' is produced by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri, and Jom Varghese under the banners of Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films.
In a previous interview, Rana Daggubati explained why he chose not to act in the film despite its compelling narrative. He stated, “Every story has its ideal actor, and I believe in finding the best fit for the role. From the moment I heard the story, Dulquer was the only choice for me.”
He further praised Dulquer's ability to embody diverse characters, emphasizing that his talent transcends conventional mainstream expectations, making him an ideal collaborator.
'Kaantha' is directed and written by Selvamani Selvaraj, with music composed by Jhanu Chanthar. The film is set to hit theaters on September 12, 2025.
