Diljit Dosanjh's Citizenship Rumors: What the Singer Really Thinks!
Diljit Dosanjh Addresses Citizenship Speculations
In May, speculation arose regarding popular singer Diljit Dosanjh allegedly acquiring US citizenship in 2022. Although the rumors have been rampant, Diljit has not directly commented on the matter. However, during a recent Instagram Live session with his fans, he was asked about his citizenship status. While he avoided giving a clear answer, he humorously remarked, "Ye news ban jayegi," meaning "This news will become a headline."
During the live chat, a fan jokingly suggested that Diljit should seek a US Green Card after his film "Satluj" was taken off the OTT platform ZEE5. In a witty response, Diljit said, "I'll take a card and color it green. I'm not saying anything. People will leave everything and make headlines out of this. It doesn't work like that. The drama of the world will never end." He also expressed a wish for unrestricted global travel, stating, "I believe everyone should be allowed to travel to any country without a visa. The whole world should become one."
In another amusing exchange during the session, a fan suggested that Diljit should reach out to former US President Donald Trump to help others secure American citizenship. Diljit laughed off the idea, saying, "What do you all think of me? I am just an artiste. How can I ask him to solve citizenship issues? His daughter follows me, but I have never spoken to her either. I never ask anyone for favors. If something is meant to happen, it happens. If it isn't, then it isn't."
Earlier reports from a news outlet indicated that Diljit had indeed obtained US citizenship in 2022, noting that his wife, Sandeep Kaur, is also a US citizen. The report highlighted that Diljit resides in a luxurious five-bedroom bungalow in a prestigious California neighborhood, further intensifying the speculation about his citizenship.
On the film front, Diljit stars in "Satluj," formerly known as "Punjab 95," which is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The movie depicts Khalra's abduction in 1995 and the subsequent conviction of four Punjab Police officers for his murder. Initially set for a theatrical release, "Satluj" encountered a prolonged struggle with the Central Board of Film Certification before being made available on ZEE5, only to be removed just two days later. The film also features prominent actors Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky, and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, and is directed by Honey Trehan.
