Diljit Dosanjh's Stance on Political Protests
Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh recently addressed the ongoing protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, spearheaded by activist Sonam Wangchuk and CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. During an Instagram Live session, the Main Vaapas Aaunga star made it clear that he prefers to stay away from political issues, stating that he is an artist, not a politician. He expressed his lack of awareness regarding the protests and urged his fans to keep him out of such matters. His remarks sparked a variety of reactions across social media platforms.
What Did Diljit Dosanjh Say About the CJP Protest?
In his live session, Diljit remarked, "Bro, keep me away from protests and such things. I am an artist. I am not a politician." He acknowledged that the world isn't perfect and quoted a verse from the Guru Granth Sahib, saying, "Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhia jis naam adhaar." He further mentioned that while his name often gets linked to such issues, he holds no animosity towards anyone and wishes well for all parties involved. He concluded with, "So, those who are protesting, congratulations to them, and for whom the protest is happening, congratulations to them also, as I don't know anything."
CJP Responds to Diljit Dosanjh's Remarks
Following the viral video, CJP clarified that their protest is not aligned with any political party. They acknowledged Diljit's self-identification as an artist but emphasized that the protesters are advocating for necessary reforms in the education sector, which they believe transcends political boundaries. The movement aims to address the concerns of students and their families, seeking accountability and significant changes in the educational landscape. CJP also pointed out that a significant portion of Diljit's fan base consists of Gen Z and students who support his work. They added, "If you choose not to speak in support of the movement, that is entirely your personal decision. But many would hope that the issues affecting millions of students and their futures are not ignored, especially given the current state of education." CJP also tagged Diljit in a post on X, but he has yet to respond.
