Starring Ranveer Singh, this film has made waves in North America, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film for premiere advance bookings. This remarkable achievement positions the Aditya Dhar directed movie as the top Bollywood opener in the region, based solely on pre-sales, with its release still days away.
Dhurandhar 2 Surpasses Animal in Advance Sales
As reported by the box office tracking account Venky Box Office on X, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has amassed $982,374 in advance sales in the United States alone. The film is set to screen in 678 locations with 1,684 shows, and approximately 61,491 tickets have already been sold. When including Canada’s figures, the total advance collection in North America has reached an impressive $1.2 million, surpassing the previous record held by Animal for Hindi films abroad.
Canada has shown a particularly strong response, with around 40,000 tickets sold, generating nearly C$600,000 for the film's opening weekend. Box office analyst Jitinder Singh anticipates that ticket sales in Canada could soon exceed 100,000.
Advance Bookings for Dhurandhar 2 in India
While the international response has been robust, the domestic market is gearing up for advance bookings. In India, ticket sales commenced on March 7, shortly after the trailer was unveiled. Currently, these bookings are limited to paid preview shows scheduled for March 18, a day before the official release, aimed at generating excitement among viewers. Despite the limited booking period, the film has already achieved impressive numbers in India, with ticket prices reaching as high as Rs 2400! According to trade website Sacnilk, including block seat bookings, Dhurandhar 2 has already garnered around Rs 29.4 crore in advance collections. The complete advance sales for the opening weekend have yet to begin, suggesting that these figures will rise significantly in the coming days.
This sequel sees Ranveer Singh reprise his role as Hamza Mazari, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a character that gained immense popularity in the original film. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie boasts a stellar cast, including Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, and R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal. Additionally, actors Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, and Rakesh Bedi will return to their roles from the first installment.
