Dhanush Takes the Lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Upcoming Jungle Drama
Exciting Developments in Bhansali's Next Film
Audiences are buzzing with anticipation for the next film from acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Earlier, there were rumors that South Indian actor Ram Charan would be the lead in Bhansali's forthcoming mythological jungle drama. However, recent updates suggest that another South Indian star will take on this pivotal role.
**Dhanush Steps In**
As reported by *Variety India*, it has been confirmed that Dhanush will be the lead actor in this ambitious project, replacing Ram Charan. This film represents a significant endeavor for Bhansali, and Dhanush has officially been cast for the role.
The film will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions, with Tamil director P.S. Mithran at the helm. Mithran, known for his work on films like *Irumbu Thirai*, *Hero*, and *Sardar*, will be making his Bollywood debut with this project, marking his first collaboration with Dhanush.
**Script Evolution**
Reports indicate that P.S. Mithran was initially focused on *Rowdy Rathore 2*, but after that project fell through, he began developing the current film's storyline. The script underwent multiple revisions and was finalized only a few months ago. During this time, discussions with Ram Charan took place, but when those did not pan out, Dhanush was chosen for the lead role. Filming is anticipated to start in early 2027.
**Dhanush's Busy Schedule**
Dhanush has a packed lineup ahead, currently filming for Rajkumar Periyasamy's 'D55'. Following this, he will collaborate with Mari Selvaraj and then move on to Pachaimuthu Tamilarasan's project, along with *Vada Chennai 2*. Additionally, he is set to star in a biopic about former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, directed by Om Raut. His next release, *Kara*, directed by Vignesh Raja, is scheduled for this Friday.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also working on *Love and War*, featuring stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, which is set to premiere during the Republic Day weekend in 2027.
