Dhanush Shares Insights on His Directorial Future
During a promotional event in Coimbatore for his upcoming film Kara, Dhanush revealed details about his future as a director. He indicated that his return to directing will take some time due to his busy schedule filled with acting roles alongside prominent directors. Currently, he is looking forward to the release of Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja, which is set to hit theaters on April 30 and features co-stars Mamitha Baiju and KS Ravikumar.
Dhanush Addresses Delay in Directorial Projects
At the premiere event in Coimbatore, Dhanush confirmed that he will not start his next directorial project in the near future. He explained that his calendar is fully booked with various acting assignments, which limits his ability to take on directing right away. He plans to first complete D55, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, followed by a collaboration with Mari Selvaraj, and then a project with Pachaimuthu Thamizharasan, known for Lubber Pandhu.
Dhanush also mentioned that Vada Chennai 2 is part of his future projects, although its timeline will depend on his current commitments. His remarks indicated that he is fully engaged with acting roles for the foreseeable future, with at least three directors awaiting his availability with scripts in hand. He emphasized that he will only be able to focus on directing after fulfilling his existing obligations. His latest directorial venture, Idli Kadai, tells the story of a man returning to his hometown after his father's passing, exploring themes of family and loss. His previous directorial works include Power Pandi, Raayan, and Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam.
Details on Kara and Future Releases
Before diving into his upcoming acting projects, Dhanush will star in Kara, a period crime thriller set in a rural environment, which is scheduled for a multilingual release on April 30. The film features Mamitha Baiju as the lead actress, who recently praised Dhanush for his commitment, improvisational talent, and strong work ethic during filming. She described her role as short yet significant.
One of the most awaited films in his lineup is D55, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and produced by Wunderbar Films. This film also marks Mammootty's return to Tamil cinema after a long hiatus, featuring a cast that includes Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, and music by Sai Abhyankkar.
