Delhi High Court Postpones Hearing on Salman Khan's Legal Challenge Against Kala Hiran
Salman Khan's Legal Battle Continues
The Delhi High Court has once again delayed the hearing regarding Salman Khan's request to halt the promotion and release of the film 'Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy.' The actor argues that the film replicates his life story and likeness without his consent, linking it to the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident. During the latest session, the court indicated that it required additional time before proceeding.
Hearing on Salman Khan's Plea Postponed
On July 1, the Delhi High Court postponed the hearing on Salman Khan's plea once more. Justice Jyoti Singh presided over the case and requested the filmmakers of 'Kala Hiran' to provide a definitive stance on their release plans before the court could advance. The attorney for the filmmakers informed the court that only a teaser had been released thus far and assured that a comprehensive response to Salman's petition would be submitted shortly. He confirmed that the film has not yet been released and provided a written guarantee that it would not be submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) before Monday. The lawyer also noted that Salman had not included the CBFC in his case, despite the necessity of certification for theatrical releases.
After considering both parties, the court scheduled the next hearing for Monday. This case, initially reviewed by a vacation bench, has now transitioned to a regular roster bench for ongoing proceedings.
Producer Amit Jani Responds to Salman Khan's Petition
Producer Amit Jani opposed Salman Khan's petition prior to the Wednesday hearing, stating that he had insufficient time to prepare as the court documents were shared only two days before the hearing. He also mentioned receiving a threatening call from an individual named Shahzad Bhatti, allegedly from Pakistan, who urged him to settle with Salman and threatened his family if he did not comply. Amit emphasized that the outcomes in court are not influenced by celebrity status, referencing previous cases involving other famous individuals to illustrate that fame does not guarantee a favorable ruling. He further denied allegations that he is exploiting Salman's name for financial gain, asserting that his film focuses on the Bishnoi community's long-standing efforts to safeguard blackbucks and their wildlife heritage.
