Daboo Malik Stands by Son Amaal Amidst Awarapan 2 Controversy
Daboo Malik's Support for Amaal Amid Challenges
Music composer Daboo Malik has openly expressed his backing for his son, Amaal Mallik, during a challenging time following the release of Awarapan 2. He took to social media to commend the film's success while also addressing the hurdles Amaal faced throughout its production.
In a heartfelt Instagram message, Daboo reflected on the difficulties his son encountered, mentioning the considerable external pressures that surrounded the project. He recognized that, despite the film's eventual success, the journey was tainted by what he termed as coordinated negativity and premature judgments regarding Amaal’s contributions to the film's soundtrack.

Daboo Malik emphasized the personal importance of the project, particularly highlighting the song Yeh Awarapan, which features vocals by Arijit Singh. He pointed out that Amaal had dedicated this track to honor his father's musical legacy, adding emotional depth to the piece. In his message, Daboo congratulated the film's team, including Emraan Hashmi, Vishesh Bhatt, Nitin Kakkar, and the crew at Vishesh Films.
This public endorsement comes after Amaal Mallik's own reaction to the backlash his work faced upon release. He previously claimed that a targeted, paid campaign was launched within the music industry to diminish his efforts. Amaal differentiated between constructive criticism and what he described as manufactured negativity, voicing his discontent with the online response. Following the uproar, he indicated a need for a break from film music to prioritize his mental health.

Amaal Mallik, who made his industry debut in 2014 with Jai Ho, has faced a complicated public image. In March 2025, he candidly discussed the emotional challenges within his family and the toll of industry pressures on his mental well-being. Although he initially expressed a desire to keep professional boundaries with his parents, he later deleted that post and was seen reconnecting with his family during his brother Armaan Malik’s wedding celebrations.
In addition to his composing work, Amaal recently participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 19, where he finished as the fourth runner-up in December 2025. Currently, he has been vocal about needing time to recuperate from the recent pressures of the industry, marking a significant transition in both his personal and professional life.
