Controversy Erupts Over Prabhas's 'Fauji' Teaser Amid Historical Concerns
Controversy Surrounds 'Fauji' Teaser
The teaser for the highly anticipated film 'Fauji', featuring South Indian superstar Prabhas, has sparked significant controversy. Chandra Kumar Bose, a descendant of the renowned freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has voiced his objections regarding the film's depiction of historical events, urging the creators to withdraw the current teaser and produce a new version.
Released on October 23, coinciding with Prabhas's 47th birthday, the teaser titled 'File No. 25' is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. It begins in Berlin in 1942, showcasing a fictional dialogue between Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Adolf Hitler, before introducing Prabhas as a 'super-spy' battling British colonial rule.
Reasons Behind the Controversy
The controversy arises from the film's use of actual historical figures within a fictional context. Chandra Kumar Bose has reiterated his call for the teaser's removal and a revised release.
The issue gained momentum when social and political figure Suparno Satpathy shared the teaser on the social media platform X, questioning the appropriateness of intertwining historical figures with fictional narratives.
In his commentary, Satpathy remarked, "If I had to sum up this teaser in one word, it would be 'goosebump-inducing.' However, merging history with fiction is problematic. Best wishes for the film, which is set to premiere on March 19, 2027. Long live Netaji, Jai Hind!"
Chandra Kumar's Appeal to Filmmakers
Chandra Kumar Bose subsequently reshared Satpathy's post on X, supporting the call for a new teaser. He expressed concerns that blending historical facts with fiction could lead to misinterpretations. He stated, "Mixing fiction with history is unacceptable. I hope Hanu Raghavapudi and his team will retract this teaser and create a new one that respects historical accuracy. I also hope Prabhas sees this message." By tagging Prabhas, he aimed to draw the actor's attention to his concerns.
