Controversies Surround Thalapathy Vijay's Final Film Jana Nayagan Ahead of Release
Jana Nayagan Faces Multiple Controversies
Thalapathy Vijay's eagerly anticipated film, Jana Nayagan, is encountering a series of challenges even before its theatrical debut. The movie has faced delays from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and it has also been leaked online. Recently, a new issue has emerged from Madurai, where local residents have protested against the film, expressing their discontent over what they perceive as an unfair representation of their community.
Protests Erupt in Madurai Over Misrepresentation
Madurai Residents Voice Their Concerns
Villagers from a locality near Madurai have taken to the streets, waving black flags and voicing their grievances against Jana Nayagan. Their primary concern is that the film portrays their community in a negative and misleading manner. The protesters argue that the depiction of their village does not align with reality and could tarnish their community's reputation. They believe that such misrepresentation is damaging and needs to be rectified before the film's release.
Jana Nayagan's Controversial Background
Jana Nayagan has already stirred significant controversy, particularly after social media users highlighted its striking similarities to the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, which contradicted director H Vinoth's claims of originality. Additionally, the film was linked to the Karur tragedy, with allegations circulating that a gathering related to the film's shooting was involved. However, leaders from Vijay's political party, TVK, have dismissed these claims as unfounded.
Release Date Set for May 8?
Excitement Builds for Fans
Amidst the controversies, there is some positive news for fans. Reports indicate that Jana Nayagan is set to release globally on May 8, 2026, following months of delays. This announcement has generated excitement across Tamil Nadu and beyond. Initially scheduled for January 9, 2026, the release was postponed due to the lack of a certification from the CBFC. After a legal battle, the film was finally submitted to the revising committee.
If the release occurs on May 8, it will coincide closely with the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results, expected to be announced on May 4. Notably, Vijay is contesting in these elections, making the film's release timing particularly significant. Despite the online leak, advance bookings for Jana Nayagan have already surpassed Rs 100 crore globally, indicating strong box office potential due to Vijay's extensive fan base.
Directed by H Vinoth, the film features a star-studded cast, including Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, and Narain, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. This film is widely regarded as Vijay's last before he fully transitions into politics.
