Comedian Raunaq Rajani took to Instagram to share a troubling video detailing an incident where his wife sustained injuries during a student protest in Mumbai. He accused the Mumbai police of excessive force, claiming that a police officer kicked his wife, resulting in fractured ribs during the demonstration at Shivaji Park on July 22. The footage shared by Raunaq shows a male officer allegedly pushing and kicking his wife, Henna Mirchandani. Furthermore, he alleged that a man in civilian clothing forcibly placed her inside a police van while they were questioning the detention of another protester.

He mentioned that he suffered a neck sprain while his wife experienced severe rib pain due to the alleged police actions. He stated, “They have shoved us in with brute force. I ended up having a sprain on my neck. She ended up having pain on her ribs.” Initially, they dismissed their injuries, thinking others had faced worse police treatment. However, after returning from Delhi, they sought medical attention, leading to the discovery of Henna's fracture.

Raunaq confronted the police when they were detaining a young protester, capturing the incident on video. He urged viewers to pay attention to the actions of the officers involved. When Henna tried to intervene, she was reportedly manhandled and pushed towards the police van. Raunaq accused a man in red clothing of using his body to force her inside. He has lodged a complaint at the Shivaji Park Police Station and is currently awaiting a response to file an FIR. He expressed his frustration, stating, “They told us to wait till a senior comes. There were no seniors in the police station yesterday. So, we’re waiting for the senior to come so we can file an FIR against this guy and this guy in red. So please, Mumbai Police, I hope you take this as seriously as I am.” As of now, the Mumbai Police have not responded to his allegations, while the video continues to gain traction on social media, drawing reactions from various netizens and celebrities.
