Bhooth Bangla: A Thrilling Return to Horror Comedy

Bhooth Bangla, featuring the talented Akshay Kumar, is creating quite a buzz as it hits theaters in 2026. This horror comedy not only marks Kumar's comeback to the genre but also reunites him with the acclaimed director Priyadarshan. Initial box office reports reveal that the film had its best opening day yet. However, the earnings during the weekdays have seen a dip, making the remaining days of the opening week critical for its overall success. Audience feedback has been varied, but Bhooth Bangla has still managed to kick off with impressive commercial figures, surpassing the first-day earnings of previous Kumar-Priyadarshan collaborations, indicating strong pre-release anticipation.

The film has attracted attention due to its diverse cast and the unique pairing of Akshay Kumar with Wamiqa Gabbi, who are sharing the screen for the first time. The ensemble also features well-known actors like Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Mithila Palkar, Asrani, and Jisshu Sengupta, combining seasoned comedic talent with fresh faces. This project holds special significance as it marks Asrani's last theatrical performance. Additionally, Bhooth Bangla signifies Priyadarshan's return to the horror comedy realm after nearly two decades since his last hit, Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The trailer has ignited considerable chatter on social media, and the upcoming weeks will determine if this online excitement translates into sustained theater attendance.

Regarding its performance, Bhooth Bangla's international earnings saw a slight decline on its seventh day, as reported by Sacnilk. The film garnered Rs 2 crore from overseas markets on day seven, bringing its total international box office earnings to Rs 35.5 crore after the first week. With these figures, Bhooth Bangla's global box office total reached Rs 135.86 crore by the end of its opening week, showcasing strong worldwide interest despite the softer daily trend observed on day seven.

Looking forward, Bhooth Bangla is projected to maintain a steady performance at the international box office as it enters its second week. Predictions indicate that the film will earn between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 2 crore on its eighth day, bringing its overall collection close to Rs 37 crore. The total worldwide earnings are expected to reach around Rs 140 crore today.

In a recent conversation, Jisshu Sengupta shared his thoughts on collaborating with Priyadarshan for Bhooth Bangla, expressing a blend of excitement and nervousness at the outset. He remarked, "In the first few days, I wouldn’t say I was tense, but I was, you know, working with Priyadarshan. On set, he is a very relaxed director. He enjoys the process and welcomes input from everyone."
